YELLOW SOCKS & ANGST

Knitting by the fire

Grandma is knitting

Ooooooooooooooooh….

By the fire

Electric fire

Television on a Saturday night

Rudi Carell on the television

Men are smoking cigars

Playing cards

By the fire

Men are drinking

Grandma is knitting a sweater

Grey sweater

Electric fire

Rudi Carell

Grandma is knitting a sweater and

Socks socks yellow socks

Socks socks yellow socks

And angst

My grandson is going to the North

With his band

I’m loosing him more, everyday

He’s getting smaller

Like the little boy

In my heart

In my heart

Between businessmen and truckdrivers

Plastic bags with aquavit and salmiakki

Outside

The world is changing

My life is changing

I saw the beauty of the world

Three little stars in the blue morning sky

2.Flowershop ‘Forget-Me-Not

When we live We live a while

Like cellophane flowers and Edelweiss

When we live We live a while

Like dinosaurs and butterflies

Then we die Goodbye

When we walk We walk a while

On Penny Lane and Arnold Grove

When we walk We walk a while

On never ending roads and dead end streets

Then we turn We turn

Life is a cadeau You can get it for free

Love is bouquet you can get it for free

Life is a chateau You can live there with me

Love is a bouquet You can get it for free

In the flowershop

When we drive We drive a while

On Autobahn and winding roads

Then we turn

When we live We live a while

Like lilies of the valley and fleurs de lis

The we die Goodbye

Life is a cadeau You can get it for free

Love is bouquet You can get it for free

In the flowershop

When we love We love a while

Like Nikki and Jean

Like cats and dogs

When we love We love a while

Like Yoko and John

Like Gilbert and George

Then we burn We burn

In the flowershop Forget-me-not

3.Radio Orange

My brother and sister

they walked back

For hours to our house without a map

Under the table

Hide themselves

My mother found them

Without a word she took them in her open arms

The hunger, the danger

They will never have to go

Back to the farm

The German soldiers with their heads down

They were walking back to the east

Along the highway

We were watching

Surprised by the age of the soldiers…our enemy

My mother had a headache on the 4th of May

After 5 years of darkness there’s light on Liberation day

When there’s white bread falling from the sky

When the people were singing and dancing in the streets

She was in bed all day under the sheets

Too much light after years of darkness

Darkness

In a suitcase in the attic

I found a photograph

4.Lits- Jumeaux

The David’s star

On my wintercoat

My mother took it off to hide it

In the drawer

New buttons on

My Sunday shirt

She ironed it and put

On the table

On the wall

a poster of the Führer

‘Fanta erfrischt’

on the wall

a poster of a US soldier

‘What I want is a coke’

Mother ironed my black shirt

And hung my uniform on the wall

SS on the sleeves

New buttons

Swastika

On my black shirt

We are sleeping

In lits-jumeaux

A thin wall between us

A thin wall bewteen 2 houses, 29 and 31

A shadow play

Elfenbein und schwarzer Stahl

In lits-jumeaux

a shadow play on the wallpaper with flowers

shadows of the war… the battlefields…and trains

a shadow play

puppets on a string

trains

buttons

ivory

black steel

Elfenbein Schwarzer Stahl

5.

Two Sisters

With my little sister

In our blue canoe

On a chocolate river

How can I protect you

In the station’s hall

Looking at all the paintings on the wall

So many different trains going in all directions

Like the rose of a compass

How can we fall asleep

How can we close our eyes

When the world’s on fire

How can we rest our head

How can we close our eyes

When the world is burning

How can we fall asleep

How can we close our eyes

When the world’s on fire

How can we rest our head

How can we close our eyes

When the world is burning

My little sister

In our blue canoe

On a chocolate river

Falling asleep

How can we fall asleep

How can we close our eyes

When the world is burning

How can we fall asleep

How can we close our eyes

When the world’s on fire

And my little sister….

6.Pockets of Rain

Pockets of rain

I am searching a name

Pockets of rain

In the holes of my brain

In a maze

The rain beats

My heart beats

Pitter patter pitter patter pitter patter

The rain falls

My heart falls

Pitter patter pitter patter pitter patter

I’m an old weatherman

With a cloud

Spring summer autumn winter

Pitter patter pitter patter pitter patter

My father is skating on the river of ice

Kish kish kish kish……

Looking at the shadows

An old man in a cloud

Pockets of Rain

Shall I start it again?

Pockets of Rain

Look at the weatherman

With a cloud in his hand

Pockets of Rain

The rain falling down

From his fingers

Pockets of rain

In my soul

In my heart

In my brain

Im an old man

With a shadow falling down

8.Cow with Spleen

Now the snow is falling

It is freezing cold

My skin is covered with ice

Like I’m already in the freezer

I’m all alone

And I can’t explain

Why everybody is looking at me

I’m a cow with spleen

Boo

I’m alone in a field

A night with snow

It’s a cold cold winter

I’m a cow in a meadow

I’m alone in a field

It’s a night with rain

When darkness falls

I’m a cow with spleen

Everybody is hungry

The last winter of the war

They are looking at me

I’m a piece of meat

I’m a cow with spleen

Boo

It’s a Christmas dinner

In the hungry winter

I’m on the table

My brain, my heart, my kidney and my liver

I’m all alone

And I can’t explain

Why everybody is looking at me

I’m a cow with spleen

Now the snow is falling

It’s freezing cold

No milk today

I’m a cow with spleen

 We live in memories

In my eye

 In my leica

Breitner on a Kreidler

Monet on a Mobylette

 We live in photographs

Looking for

 We live in memories

Buildings

 We never age another day

Breitner on a Kreidler

Looking at buildings
